ambivalence

I read once that ambivalence is an activist's worst enemy, or something of the sort.

That's why I find all these social responsibility campaigns a little dubious.

You know what I'm talking about, the "refresh" project, the "drive change" project, the "use-our-soap-to-gain-self-esteem" project.

Not that I have that much of a problem to corporations donating to local initiatives, and supporting these kinds of things, but it just sounds silly to hear "buy this ipod to cure AIDS", why not just directly help the organizations.

Also, companies may have a clean track record here, but in the developing world, their practices may not be as nice and tidy.
